UTAH — Travelers eager to explore Utah’s scenic high-altitude routes can now hit the road as the Mirror Lake Highway, also known as State Route 150, has officially reopened. The 77-mile stretch runs east from Kamas and reaches all the way to the southern border of Wyoming, offering access to some of the state’s most breathtaking mountain landscapes.
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) confirmed the reopening on Friday, marking another milestone in the seasonal transition to summer travel. Alongside Mirror Lake Highway, UDOT also reopened the Alpine Loop, also known as State Route 92, a popular route through the mountains that connects American Fork Canyon and Provo Canyon.
Only one seasonal road remains closed: State Route 153 in southern Utah. This route links Junction to Puffer Lake and Mount Holly and is expected to reopen soon.
“Just one seasonal road left to go (SR-153 to Mount Holly). Shoutout to the crew members who’ve been working hard to clear these roads for weeks,” said UDOT on Facebook.
Earlier in the season, Wolf Creek Pass on State Route 35 became the first of Utah’s high mountain roads to open. This route connects Francis to Tabiona and winds through the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache and Ashley National Forests, offering early-season access for outdoor enthusiasts.
Guardsman Pass, which runs between Park City and Brighton, also opened on May 20, adding to the growing number of accessible alpine routes just in time for summer adventures. As temperatures rise and snowpack continues to melt, UDOT advises drivers to remain cautious and prepared when traveling these high-elevation roads.
